About Revolg (pronounced "ree-VAHL-jee")

Revolg Records is dedicated to putting out high quality instrumental and vocal music with a special emphasis on independent artistry in innovative settings.

Started in Berkeley, California in 1998, Revolg partnered with Japanese label Mary Joy to release a string of groundbreaking indie hip-hop recordings with Shing02 that crossed stylistic and cultural boundaries with multi-lingual rapping and live band production.

Subsequent releases have included indie conspiracy-pop with SF-based Colonel Knowledge and a guitar-loop based battle scratch opus with DJ Nozawa.

Revolg's most recent releases continue the trend of stylistic blending and artistic innovation, with electro-acoustic Brazilian grooves on Capital and Marco Bosco's "Floats on Flat Tires," the super-blues of Alex Kerckhoff with a sound ala Jeff Beck meets Frank Zappa meets Tom Waits on "No More Rain," Bossa Zuzu's original acoustic Brazilian jazz, and Rumi Flute's stunning instrumental debut CD "Zabumba Rumba" featuring outrageously funky Afro-Latin arrangements with an all-star cast including Sergio Mendes' bassist Hussain Jiffry.

Revolg Records and Revolg Studios are located in Pasadena, California. Please contact us for artist, ordering, or recording info.
